Antioch Rebroadcaster plays the Old-time Radio mp3 stream Antioch OTR (ABN) and replaces the network's station ID with your own. The purpose of this rebroadcaster is for those who would like to run ABN content on their own terrestrial AM or FM stations but ID as their own station, frequency, and city. Generally those broadcasting with Part 15 microtransmitters will find this useful.

REQUIREMENTS

- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
- An internet connection
- QuickTime is no longer needed

GETTING STARTED

1. Unzip the whole "Antioch Rebroadcaster" folder and keep everything in it together. The program needs the files and folders beside it, so don't move Antioch Rebroadcaster.exe out on its own or run it from inside the zip file.
2. Open Antioch Rebroadcaster.exe. It connects to the stream and starts playing.
The first time, Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because the program isn't from the Microsoft Store. Click "More info", then "Run anyway".
3. Choose your sound output from the Output menu at the bottom of the window. System Default plays through your PC's current sound output. Windows lists each sound card once for each of its audio systems (MME, Windows DirectSound, Windows WASAPI); any of them will work.

HOW IT WORKS

The network marks each station ID break with a short gap of silence and 1/2 second of 50 Hz tone at less than 50% amplitude. Antioch Rebroadcaster listens to the stream a few seconds ahead of what it plays, so when it hears that sequence it mutes the network and plays your local Station ID in its place. The tone itself never goes out over the air. Each ID is noted in the Station ID Log.

Click ID Now to play your Station ID at any time.

YOUR STATION ID

At launch the program looks for a file named "Station ID.wav" in the same folder as the program. A file named "Station ID.aiff" or "Station ID.mp3" works too. To use a file stored somewhere else, click Station ID... and choose it. The program remembers your choice.

The file you record should be exactly 3 or exactly 8 seconds long. The network's ID break is a 3 second phrase followed by a 5 second phrase, so either length unmutes the network between phrases rather than in the middle of a sentence. Buffer 1/4 - 1/2 second of silence on either end of your voice if you can, but make sure the total length including silence is exactly 3 or 8 seconds. If you choose 3 seconds, you'll rejoin the network sooner and get a complete 5 second sentence about ABN. If your file is any other length, the Station ID Log shows a warning with its exact length.

Two sample Station IDs are included: "Station ID.wav" (3 seconds), which is used automatically, and "Station ID 8s.wav" (8 seconds). Replace "Station ID.wav" with your own recording, or choose your file with Station ID...

The program reloads your Station ID file at 40 minutes past each hour, so you can replace the recording without restarting.

KEEPING IT RUNNING

- If the stream drops, the program reconnects on its own.
- After 30 seconds of silence it restarts the stream.
- Every day at 4:59 AM local time it resets the stream to keep the audio timing synced.

The Station ID Log is also saved to:
%APPDATA%\Antioch Rebroadcaster\Station ID Log.txt

The schedule at the bottom of the window shows the current program segment on ABN (times are Central).
